Hi there! My name is Syaiful Arifin, most people call me Iful. I was born and raised in Aik Berik, a small village nestled at the southern foot of Mount Rinjani in Central Lombok, Indonesia. For me, Rinjani isn’t just a mountain, it’s part of my soul.

As a child, I grew up listening to my father’s stories about hiking and fishing in Segara Anak Lake, deep within Rinjani. He would return with big fish and even bigger adventures. His stories sparked a dream in me to one day follow in his footsteps.

That dream came true in 2004, just after I graduated high school. I did my first trek to Mount Rinjani, and it was nothing short of magical. The view, the air, the silence, it felt like a piece of heaven on Earth. Since then, I’ve climbed Rinjani almost every year, often multiple times, with friends from my village.

One rainy day, I met a traveler who had never been to Rinjani but was deeply curious. After hearing my stories, he invited me to guide him on a 3-day trek. That trip changed everything. At the end, he handed me some money with a smile and said, “You should be a mountain guide.” And so, my journey as a Rinjani guide began.

In 2016, I officially founded a licensed trekking company for Mount Rinjani. Since then, I’ve guided hundreds of hikers, both local and international, helping them experience the best of Rinjani safely and meaningfully. Our company is also a proud member of the Rinjani Trekking Association (Forum Wisata Lingkar Rinjani).

For me, hiking is not just about reaching the summit. It’s about the journey, the stories, and the connection with nature. I believe Mount Rinjani is not just a destination, it’s a life-changing experience.
